I'unno, Reddit's always been a caustic place like 4Chan, just of another variety.

Suppose the world in general is just getting to be a bit too acidic. I wouldn't let my bleak outlook prevent you from trying it, though. For all I know, you may end up liking it there if you enjoyed the way Reddit handled.

Figured the 'tism was too stronk for me to otherwise fit in.

@Saorsa @xaetacore @alex Mastodon was a surprisingly peaceful place, not everyone was perfect tho... But probably best place so far, so I supposed Fedi in general would be...

Well, Lemmy is a cool concept, I'll try it, and if I find it too toxic... Guess I could host my own instance with my own rules that prevents that kind of behavior, that's the cool part of Fedi!

@superboom12s @alex @musha Chill with alex in vr some time, hes pretty dope and could be a nice way to break the ice with a few randos.

The social barriers are alot lower in VR due to the anonimity

@xaetacore @alex @musha ABSOLUTELY NOT, for some reason I feel WAAY more insecure in VR than IRL. Nowadays I can easily talk to anyone and do whatever, I am horrible at socializing but I can. Not the same with VR, I used to connect to VR chat to dress up like anime characters and stuff, but I couldn't leave my own home!

@superboom12s @alex @musha for VR sickness get Ginger root supplement 550mg one, one of those an hour before should help against the vr sickness.

Tea from fresh ginger root works too tho not as potent, try adding a slice of lemon for a nice taste 🙂

@xaetacore @alex @musha How do you know so specifically-
Well, I guess I would at least use the vodka to get rid of it, but I never tried adding lemon... It just makes lot of sense and I love the lemon taste, so maybe it can work? However, unlike ginger, vodka is IMPOSIBLE to drink without mixing it with something else, unless you are drinking shots (something I haven't ever tried), so it may go from 'nice taste' to 'drinkable'

@superboom12s @alex @musha also was about to ask, is weed legal there?
I stopped drinking a while ago.

And after having done all that stuff Mary Jane is the only one that stuck round, its also not too hard to quit, the withdrawl is not too bad if your hooked if you taper

          @xaetacore @alex @musha yes and no? It's really confusing.

Here it is legal to own it and smoke it in your own place until some quantity, but at the same time it is ilegal to sell or buy it... How is it supposed to make sense?

@xaetacore @alex @musha Oh- okay. I don't really get that 'motion sickness' anytime, I could play for several hours without issue, but it is unhealthy and the VR usually ends up overheating and without battery after 1 - 2 hours. But couldn't you make something up with the ginger root? Capsules as a supplement are something I haven't heard about.

I've been perfectly fine with public transportation until very recently when I started taking a bus to commute to the course I'm on.

Sudden motion stickness randomly out of no where. Though I do blame the bus for being old, rickety and taking an hour and a half to move between a town and city in relatively close proximity.

@Saorsa @xaetacore @alex @musha Hm... The public transportation I take everyday is way shorter, so even if the bus is also old AF and completely messed up, I don't think I'll ever experience it there, specially since you can't sit on it, which I suppose helps against it

I could probably walk down to my local Aldi and pick up an X bus from there which significantly cuts down on some of the time. Problem with that, though is I would end up having to walk there and back going to and coming back from campus. The bus I did take on the other hand was just a street away from my house, and taking my Steam Deck did help with alleviating the border until it eventually ran out of battery half way there.

@Saorsa @xaetacore @alex @musha Aldi?! You unlocked a core part of my brainrotted mind again-

But does using your steam deck help?? As far as I know, the common thing is that using your phone, reading and that kind of thing makes everything worse, looking out of the window and stuff should help (probably this helps me to not notice that I have this problem, as even in several hour trips (like 8h+, that I find impressive I don't get bored) I like to look outside all the time), have you tried it or it doesn't work for you?

I don't personally own a phone and they've became literal mobile surveillance devices, so I usually take my Steam Deck with me to play some vidya gaems while in transit. The bus I took went through three towns and stopped at every bus stop on its route. That is primarily the reason why it took upward of an hour and a half before reaching my destination.

Around about four quarters of the way, my Steam Deck would usually run out of battery. Only thing I could do from that point onward is to look out of the window at the passing streets and fields. It can help for the most part, though I usually find myself spacing out while left to my thoughts.

I don't personally own a phone and they've became literal mobile surveillance devices, so I usually take my Steam Deck with me to play some vidya gaems while in transit. @Saorsa @xaetacore @alex @musha Oh! It's a nice thing not to own a mobile phone, I feel the same as you. Right now I only have it to be able to contacted with Telegram (since I stopped using Whatsapp and any other social medie, excepting Mastodon and now Misskey, but I don't have them on my phone), usually without internet. I want to slowly stop using it completely and only have a 'dumb' phone to be able to call others whenever I need. The only thing that I am afraid of is UK, you are forced to own and use a mobile phone there and I am afraid that it will be the same here in a close future...

Being alone with your thoughts some time each day is a good thing, or at least something I like, but have you considered investing in a external battery for the deck? You could even use an old modded phone to charge it, in case you have one.

Wdym, I'm from the UK. 🥴

I've completely sworn off anything meta related, so imagine the lack of surprise I had when I saw this pop up in my feed recently.

@superboom12s @Saorsa @xaetacore @musha With dumb phones I probably won't get one cause getting spied on by my ISP/govt is not something I want . Custom privacy ROM + container for disabling annoying apps and a bit of self control
