@Saorsa @superboom12s @xaetacore @musha Tbh it was getting worse and worse, the only things keeping me on windows are baking lighting in unity engine, vr, discord streaming, image editing.

Problem with that, though is on your typical home and professional editions, with every update the bloat will end up getting reinstalled and the registry hacks reverted.

The only way to use Windows at this point is through the IoT Enterprise edition with group policies configured to reduce as much of the telemetry as possible.

@Saorsa @alex @xaetacore @musha Something else that can be done is using Windows server.

Of course you will have to get it illegally since chances are that your computer is worth less than what they ask you to use the OS and I don't know how Win11 Server is, but the Windows 10 versions were much better (in my experience) than the LTSC versions with some debloating tools.

@alex @Saorsa @superboom12s @xaetacore @musha tbh, having the reason that you can't leave a spyware filled os be because other spy filled software is keeping you is something.

Same reason why I haven't entirely left Discord behind. There's people I talk to on there occasionally and one guy I talk with frequently that doesn't seem interested in Matrix. That and the various game related communities.

I've gotten pretty close to just leaving behind Discord though due to the government of the United Kingdom wanting to snoop on the communication of their citizens.

@superboom12s @Saorsa @xaetacore @musha I try to avoid custom win 11 builds. I don't trust MS but trusting random person to provide virus free OS ISO is a bit harder.

For IoT to be used in the manner it has, they have to make their build for it slim and include the functionality for managing those clients with Windows Server or Azure. So it is guaranteed to be light. As for any concerns about telemetry, from what I've heard you can reduce it to a bare minimum through group policies and probably further with stuff like shutup10.

@superboom12s @Saorsa @xaetacore @musha I try to avoid custom win 11 builds. I don't trust MS but trusting random person to provide virus free OS ISO is a bit harder.

@alex @Saorsa @xaetacore @musha I understand, but I thought is was open source? It would make sense for it not to be, since it may be illegal to expose their closed code, but I thought it was

@katzenismus @Saorsa @superboom12s @xaetacore @musha It can run but it runs like garbage. Chrome/Discord video acceleration is so flakey for me it's insane.
