The life of rescues is always bright, right, @petitfrere0412?

Choosing rescues is a challenge. Most of the times you don't know their true self, hidden beneath trauma and/or neglect.
We ended up with a reactive dog that really pushed us to the limit (the black fluff ❤️). After one year of training, we can finally start enjoying walks, but it's still hard.
You can't fully relax, you always have to keep an eye on everything and everyone.
    But it's totally worth it.

@gilraen79 A light-colored dog is lying on its side on a wooden chair with red cushions. The chair has woven seat and back straps secured with red fabric bands. Sunlight illuminates the scene, casting shadows on the dog and chair. The dog’s front paws are visible, with one paw resting on a red cushion. In the background, parts of other furniture and a blurred interior space are visible.

A dog with dark, shaggy fur lies on its side on a bed covered with a grayish-brown blanket. The dog's eyes are closed, and it appears to be resting. To the left, a red patterned fabric is visible near a light-colored wall. The background includes a bright area, likely from a window, on the right. The dog’s ear is upright, and its body is fully extended on the blanket.

@gilraen79 @petitfrere0412 @dogs I hear you! This is my 3 yo reactive guy. Have had Aussies for decades - so kinda know my way around them...until this guy!! He's fine if we meet other folks on the trails who have dogs - but if you don't have a dog - you obviously are coming to murder me - and his job is to STOP you. Very, very protective of all our spaces - home, car, etc.
And then so loving - I emphatically trust him around my young grandchildren

@ienvision @petitfrere0412 reactive dogs are really something, aren't they? ❤️ They require so much work, but, in return, they give so much. Yours is so beautiful!

We know that feeling. The animal shelter here always asks us when there are strange dogs. Tapis, who is also extremely reactive (although it has gotten a little better after 5 years), or Éclaire, who was extremely fearful at first and sometimes still is, no one knows when. It's good that there are people who don't give up and don't despair. 👍

@3instahunde it was difficult not to give up, I admit. But I found an amazing school and trainers that nailed the issue and are helping us to fix it. I couldn't have done it without them. Good trainers are a bless.

I can imagine, we almost gave up on Tapis too. But I could never bring myself to take a dog back to the shelter. So training, training, training. And there's so much wonderful time to be had with the Rudel, which we enjoy.
