Been playing #TheSecretOfMonkeyIsland with my oldest kid and we're loving it. I realize I haven't actually re-played the series since the special edition came out in 2009 (and of course, each new game upon release).
These games defined my childhood (together with #ALinktothePast and #Quake).
So here's for a new generation embracing the magic of #MonkeyIsland!
Thanks @grumpygamer! Not all heroes wear capes

@Beiz I did this during the summer. I played Loom, Monkey 1 and 2 with the kids. They liked Loom the most.
Next summer we’re planning to play Monkey 3 and Grim Fandango. -

@Beiz @grumpygamer also I love quake as well and I do need to give a link to the past on snes a try but I never really got into RPG games, same case when I tried Zelda 64, I was a good game but I always get stuck trying to figure out what to do or where to go next. Thats why I always like games like Mario or fps games where the goal is just to get to the end of the level and not die

@GlitchGhost @grumpygamer i've been chasing that feeling from ALttP all these years but nothing ever really recaptured it. as far as rpgs go, nothing beats good old MUDs, well, bar the original guild wars. been playing the reforged release quite a bit lately!

@Beiz @grumpygamer Oh, the VGA version. The first one I played was the EGA version which came on a couple of floppy disks, I only got the VGA version years later on CD-ROM when it was for sale.

@LordCaramac @grumpygamer I don't think any of my old floppies still work (and i don't have anything which reads floppies anymore)!

@Beiz @grumpygamer Next to Indy 4 the best adventure game ever made. I remember playing the really old EGA version on my first computer. And this is still the version I replay regularly because it’s my cozy happy childhood memory place. Also I recently found out I can have MT-32 samples so I can play with music I could have never ever know. I only had a PC speaker back then. Recorded the music by holding a mike to the pc speaker. Oh the memories. (1/2)

I am wondering what my kids think about. Perhaps I should make a replay with them? (2/2)
