For anyone following the mess at #MissionHospital in #Asheville, apparently CMS is finally getting serious about the recurrent deadly ineptitude and isn't falling for "we'll staff up for a month until this goes away" BS.

"The loss of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement would be catastrophic for both the hospital’s financial viability and the healthcare infrastructure of western North Carolina. Mission Hospital is the largest medical facility and the only Level 1 trauma center serving residents of western North Carolina, where residents are older, poorer, and sicker than average elsewhere in the state.

Decertification would mean Mission could not bill Medicare or Medicaid for services, depriving it of its largest revenue source, potentially leading to a reduction in services or, less likely, closure."

Way to go, #MissionHospital !
