      @thomholwerda @nina_kali_nina i've yet to experience failure burning cd's with cdrdao or cdrecord, and my primary burner is a blu-ray drive (LG WH16NS60 - although if i recall correctly it's actually a WH14NS40 that I replaced the firmware on).

      I do have several older drives that I think are capable of burning CD's though, including desktop and laptop DVD drives, and I think one CD-only drive on an IDE interface

        @thomholwerda @nina_kali_nina I've also had it be the SATA controller's fault before. An Asmedia-based PCIe card would sometimes fail or even make my computer freeze if I tried to burn CD's through it, but plugging it into my motherboard's SATA ports connected into the intel chipset worked fine

          @evv42 @nina_kali_nina multi-session as in "contains both a data track and audio track(s)"? Or as in "actually recorded in multiple separate sessions before being finalised"

              @evv42 @nina_kali_nina note: it only writes them if all the data is contained in one file, with all tracks concatenated

                @evv42 @nina_kali_nina is this a cue/bin file pair? And you're writing to a CD-R?

                cdrdao write --swap --speed 16 file.cue

                try without --swap if you get white noise instead of CD audio in a game. I chose speed 16 because that's the minimum speed on my specific burner

                    @wyatt @nina_kali_nina i'll try that on the desktop drive i got with my case 'cause i was too lazy to swap it back with the previous one

                    it's recent-ish so it probably can't do 1x like the good stuff (tm)

                            @wyatt @nina_kali_nina i used a crappy cd-r and the playstation needed to warm-up to get to read it but it seems to be working, thanks (it's supposed to do that)

                            i'll have to try a mixed mode2/mode1 one someday i guess

                                @wyatt @nina_kali_nina the demo is just like that, you need a modded console though

                                it's a whole reimplementation in 3d, some nyan made that for some reason, it looks very nice but it also runs at 3fps and it's a demo, it lacks a lotta stuff and the nyan who made it doesn't seem interested in finishing it (understandable)
                                the thing's on itch btw

                                  72x sounds like a way to test the physical integrity of the media. That's a very high RPM

                                      52x is (I have read) where the RPMs hit 10k.

                                      This very unscientific demo claims to show 30k:

                                        @wyatt @nina_kali_nina I'll just say my experience with cdrkit in the past has been less than stellar.

                                        (Maybe I was unlucky with hardware or some other factor, but the drives started producing readable media once I replaced cdrkit with cdrtools...)
