@thedarktangent I think I’d sleep with more peace of mind that random scripts downloaded from GitHub are not touching my contacts than worrying one of my contacts might be associated with Epstein.
-
@jap @fnwbr @kodamachameleon @thedarktangent it does seem odd that it doesn't include the names in a list in the repo, but I guess people might sue? just hash the names one way and then check if a hash matches though

@thedarktangent what if the "John Doe" you have in your LinkedIn, isn't the same "John Doe" mentioned in the files?

@andreagrandi I would not accept results blindly, but I would like to know at least where to start looking..
-
@thedarktangent I feel like this is moral grandstanding. The likelihood of you knowing anyone who is has huffed one of Epstein's farts, much less is actually connected to him is pretty nil. I just feel like this is trying to create connections where there is none. If you can afford to have an underaged girl for the night on an elite private island, chances are you're not on LinkedIn. Ashley Madison maybe, but not Linked in.

@thedarktangent @andreagrandi
The source site for the tools’ information has a direct search option as well. -
@fnwbr @kodamachameleon @thedarktangent And anyone capable of reading the code knows that it sends the contacts to a web service.
And what happens with the data there? It doesn’t say in the script, so nice try.
There is probably a term for this, when someone tries to hide a fact by pointing to it and hoping no one will look.

@thedarktangent
Ah, isn't there a big danger people with same or similar names get falsely marked? -
@thedarktangent yeah, someone wrote a script that shoots all of your contacts to a random person's API. Just "first name last name" tho, but if you match it to IP you at least know that a person sitting behind this IP has this set of contacts.
You'd probably need to host the files as text locally - not sure how big that dataset would be.
-
@thedarktangent We need Shinigami Eyes (https://shinigami-eyes.github.io/) but for the Epstein files
-
@thedarktangent Someone also saved all of the Epstein emails from the releases and set up a Gmail clone site that you can scroll as if you were in Jeffery's Gmail.
You can search by contacts, photos and even flight history.
