The Ubiquiti Travel Router appears to be back in stock, if you’re interested.

@caseyliss I am monitoring it through my changetecection.io instance and I’ve clicked the link the moment I got a notification few hours ago. It was out of stock again.
@spitfire Not snark: make sure you crank down the frequency on this one to every 1-5 minutes. They tend to go in less than an hour.

Update: already sold out

@caseyliss ok, didn’t think I have to go that far

My ultra-short review: ★★★★☆
Incredibly small and very clever, but the software is still a little shaky.
@caseyliss You can't use this as a mesh extender of an existing network, right? I don't have much use for it on the road, but if it could pull double duty doing that at home, I'd be more seriously considering it.

@dmoren That’s right; it will not act as an extender

@caseyliss
I usually go camping when I travel so I would need some sort of uplink.
For obvious reasons, I would never use Starlink, which means I would need an LTE router with a huge freaking antenna. -

@caseyliss I really want to try one at sporting events to have a better, hopefully mote reliable connections to stadium WiFi to which I can connect to my camera’s Ethernet jack for better FTP uploads. The WiFi won’t stay connected to my camera and they won’t let media use the Ethernet drops at the venue I photograph the most (though I have run my own Ethernet and APs at small enough venues that won’t notice).

@caseyliss Missed the first round, signed up for email alerts.
That appears pointless, as no alert received for this round at all. (Not even too late.) Sigh.And of course, this morning been busy and saw your post too late. Thanks for trying to help those less fortunate.

@donm @caseyliss
This Discord has a Bot for Restocks https://discord.gg/ubiquitistockalertsThe Router is available for like 4 minutes a day. I got lucky last week with this. Maybe you want to give it a try

@caseyliss Casey, you definitely sold me on this although I don't need it during the episode. Although I don't think I needed it, what are the use cases for a "Normie?" if you use a Wi-Fi hotspot and connected to this, will it boost the signal? What is the advantage to using this rather than simply having multiple devices connect to a mobile hotspot (esp if you're not going to use a router based VPN)?
