My Synapse server started doing thousands of DNS queries per minute after joining a large public Matrix room and it was stressing my woefully-underpowered Pi-Hole so I set up a separate DNS cache on the server VM.

@PurpleJillybeans Running Synapse on a pi is... ooooof. You'd be so much better served with something like continuwuity. It's so much faster than Synapse and so much of the jankiness of Matrix disappeared after I swapped (and that's on far better hardware than a Pi.)
