@Tutanota I use Proton for private Mail/Calendar, Infomaniak is in evaluation to replace Office365 at the office and Vivaldi is my default browser. I use Threema for messaging - left WhatsApp long ago, even if some friends still just have the Meta-messenger 🤷‍♂️

@Tutanota Once again it's not about being European. It's about enabling freedoms. If one day Europe enshittifies software there as well, people are going to move.

@kaito02 @Tutanota for the most part yes. But it's also about tech in countries that have laws that are actually enforced, and for the most part don't celebrate oligarchy.

@LearnToLivePrivate @Tutanota thanks Natalie, did some DD and it turns out you’re right to flag it.

@LearnToLivePrivate @Tutanota @GrapheneOS I understand and would typically agree, it just needs google pixels in order to operate, so it’s American hardware again. I’m leaning towards the Jolla phones but the lack of banking apps natively on th Linux based OS is not ideal or convenient. Oh well. I hope things will take a turn for European tech sovereignty soon.

@ymarmash @Tutanota @GrapheneOS your taking the wrong approach jolla is no better then punkt and every single one of those connects to google in more ways by default then graphene and they usually use microG which is usually given deep os permissions these are areas you already dont control and avoiding US is impossible as well beleive it or not your approach is backwards as much as you want to avoid google hardware and the US, parts of all phones are US big tech.

@LearnToLivePrivate @ymarmash @Tutanota @GrapheneOS Jolla doesn't connect to Google by default its not a de-Googled Android fork, it's SailfishOS which is Linux.

@bonsai861 @ymarmash @Tutanota @GrapheneOS I was over broad on my google connection claim but your wording makes it seem like possibly you missunderstand the linux part although android is not completely linux it does use basically a modified linux kernal lt just has a different runtime, userspace etc but in an operating-system-architecture sense, Android is a Linux-based OS.
