    So hear me out…

    Poillievre just got ridiculous support at the conservative convention. How the heck did he do that after losing a 20 point lead to Carney?

    The MP who he replaced in his riding has already said he will be running again.

    So where will Pierre run? Maybe he won’t.

    Maybe they rehabilitate Harper, hope enough Canadians have forgotten his fascist inclinations and Pierre suddenly steps down for personal reasons and they bring Harper back for a snap election. (They have already signalled they will try to get an election this year).

    The conservatives are doing well in the polls, it is just their leader. They truly believe Harper is their man. He has never given up his power in the party and has always had authoritarian tendencies.

    They think they can pull off what the Liberals and Carney did.

      It's bizarre. He's super unpopular, they've got no one else lined up who would be less unpopular and STILL the party polls well.

      OTOH, Carney is super popular but many of the things he is doing are not.

      Canada is so stuck.

        @hamishb @AnnieBuddy

        Carney has close to a 35 point lead with moderate conservative voters over PP. He also does reasonably well with some moderate NDP, Bloc and Green voters.

        PP only polls well with the hardcore CPC base. That makes for a pretty hard ceiling on his potential seat count.

        National polling shows the Liberals and CPC relatively close, but that doesn't translate into similar seat counts.

        The CPC tend to run up a cricket score in Alberta, Saskatchewan and some rural seats, winning up to 70% of the vote or more, while in some urban ridings they're the third party with 20% of the vote.

          @Sir_Osis_of_Liver @hamishb

          Which is why PP will be "retired" and Harper will be parachuted in as the saviour. They think they can do the reverse Trudeau/Carney win.

            And today.

            Fuck the CBC for trying to rehabilitate the man. There’s no single Canadian more responsible for our dependence on the US than this snake..

            Why is he getting more print than the PM? Because the CBC is complicit.

              @AnnieBuddy Canada should reduce stephen harper. He was the worst leader of Canada so far.
