I joined #mastodon last week, on a whim, with no idea what to expect
Minutes later, I was welcomed by @dillyd which has never happened on any other platform and was a wonderful introduction. So I posted a couple pictures of my #cats, and found, to my surprise, people reacting and interacting
Maybe it's because I'm not fighting an algorithm, or maybe I just found a place where folks truly appreciate cats. Either way, I'm very happy to be here, and I hope you're prepared for more cat pictures

Welcome! Mastodon definitely has pros and cons, but I hope you'll enjoy it here.
Minor tip: You can actually follow people on BlueSky and vice versa, as long as both parties have set up the bridge (which admittedly is a one time pain).
