what's a TV show you watched as a kid that you're pretty sure you hallucinated

@Taweret I watched maybe one episode of Zoobilee Zoo (sp?) when we were staying at a resort (we didn't have a TV at home until later) and all I remember is that the costumes were Really Something. Like if you tried to recreate Thundercats in live action but also with birds and rodents and so on.
@liferstate @Taweret What if Starlight Express but Bronx Zoo

@Taweret
Oh god nobody has mentioned this one and it's a fucking doozyA show where the protagonist would go into a laser tag arena and shoot a pillar and then be transported to space to fight to save the galaxy.
No, really.
Even at the time it felt goddamn surreal.
@Oggie @Taweret I thought for a second this was about Captain Power, a completely different gun-toy-themed show where you were supposed to use the gun to shoot the bad guys in the show. Don't know how it was supposed to work. Anyway, that was apparently a career stepping stone for J. Michael Straczynski

@Taweret Spellbinder was something I thought I had hallucinated until I randomly saw a fanart of one of the characters a couple years ago. Turns out it is all on youtube (legitimately) for free now, too.

@Taweret My mother was a teacher and would wake me up early to get ready. This was the only show that played early and was meant for kids.
@Taweret @Mrfunkedude I know that song without even clicking that link.

@Taweret Some PBS-shown educational show (I think about math) where there were a couple young folks in a space station. There were computers with tape drives. This was 79-80, so skylab-era.
I only remember seeing episodes once or twice -- at least once was actually in class -- and I have never been able to track down what it was.
I assume it was some obscure AIT thing I'm misremembering, but I have no idea.
@Unlikelylass @Taweret ohh that sounds like a sibling show to "Read All About It", which as best I can recall was about kids whose dad was missing and they find a key to his office which contains an interdimensional typewriter or some such, and there's a bad guy out to get them (maybe the same show? I don't remember a space station but we only watched it in school and I don't think we saw the whole thing)
the dad of one of my classmates looked just like the evil interdimensional bad guy and that was messed up

@Taweret The ultimate answer, though, is that we all lay dying of carbon monoxide poisoning and hallucinated “Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue” and we are now in Hell

@Taweret ok here's an obscure one that only Chicago kids (and maybe some Canadian kids) will know:
Gigglesnort Hotel.
-
there was a Saturday morning cartoon about animals that - wait for it - wore shirts
I don't remember what they did but the intro says you call them when you're in a jam so I guess they help people with stuff
@Taweret I think I've only ever seen one episode (the Olympics one). They didn't air the show where I lived, but occasionally I could pick it up over the air from a station in West Virginia. And it was always the same episode.

@Unlikelylass @Taweret I know I didn't hallucinate it because my entire class was traumatized by it: there was a PBS show called "All About You" and in one episode the host demonstrated how digestion works by putting a hamburger and a milkshake into a blender
-
@Taweret that was a hellish couple of years for kids cartoons that were not dungeons and dragons, I think that was the year of the kid who melted and turned into a car
@i_give_u_worms @Taweret Turbo Teen.

@Taweret Jabberwocky! it's pretty easy to see why it might seem like a hallucination (trippy opening credits after the short baseball sequence) https://youtu.be/VkOkw31XaHY?si=ilY4oJRwVcfTcHN2 thanks to YouTube I can now see those credits again but for 20 years I sort of thought I may have made them up.

@Taweret OK, so I don't remember the name, but does anyone else remember an acid trip space cartoon where, in one episode they were in a spaceship battling a giant cat on a tricycle shooting laser beams from its eyes?
Even one of the characters mentioned it was crazy.

-
@Taweret the only one that comes to mind is Thundarr the Barbarian which seemed pretty dark for a Saturday morning cartoon
https://youtu.be/A_4HBH6Z-Iw@otterlove @Taweret both Jack Kirby and Alex Toth worked on that, which is why it was amazing!
I wanted to be Princess Ariel but you didn’t disclose that as a “boy” in the ‘70s
-
@Taweret I mean, both the Lost Saucer and Far Out Space Nuts are some prime WTF childrens programming from the 70s...
Really, anything in the Kroft Super Show, for that matter...
