what's a TV show you watched as a kid that you're pretty sure you hallucinated

@coriander @Taweret it was awful, but my least favorite "comedian cashes in for a cartoon" had to be Bobby's World, because a) Howie Mandel is so insufferable and b) I felt obligated to watch it because the time slot was something very girly on ABC and turning off the TV on Saturday morning was not an option
@funkula @Taweret When I was a kid I had these edutainment games where Howie Mandel voiced this bear and you'd go around and like solve math puzzles and stuff and for ages that was my only exposure to him in any capacity
So when he started hosting Deal or No Deal I was SUPER confused because he wasn't putting on an absolutely ridiculous voice and I was like "That's gotta be a different guy"
Honestly those games have way more "pretty sure I hallucinated that" energy than any show I remember watching
-
@Taweret @Mrfunkedude it was still on in reruns when I was a little kid and I never quite knew what to make of it, like, "I guess this was made for someone but I don't think it was me"
@ItsTheManOnTheMoon @Taweret @Mrfunkedude i SEEM to recall it was put on by a religious group?

@Taweret Battle of the Planets, though it was someone else's hallucination

@Taweret camp candy, where John Candy ran a summer camp
Gravedale High, where Rick Moranis taught at a monster high school
Little Rosie, where Roseanne and Dan from Roseanne were kids

@ItsTheManOnTheMoon @Taweret @Mrfunkedude huh I am wrong, go figure.
must have been followed or preceded by a similar show that did bible stuff for kids
-
@Taweret the βWhereβs Herbβ Butger King contest commercial where Herb will give you a million dollars if you point him out at Burger King
You get a 99 cent Whopper if you tell the cashier βIβm not Herbβ
Q: What do you say if your name is Herb?
A: Iβm not the Herb youβre looking for@Taweret
[giancarlo esposito straightening tie dot jpeg]Your first memory of Jason Alexander is as the creepy guy from Pretty Woman
My first memory of Jason Alexander is him singing and dancing about the McDLT
We are not the same

@Taweret I watched maybe one episode of Zoobilee Zoo (sp?) when we were staying at a resort (we didn't have a TV at home until later) and all I remember is that the costumes were Really Something. Like if you tried to recreate Thundercats in live action but also with birds and rodents and so on.
@liferstate @Taweret What if Starlight Express but Bronx Zoo

@Taweret
Oh god nobody has mentioned this one and it's a fucking doozyA show where the protagonist would go into a laser tag arena and shoot a pillar and then be transported to space to fight to save the galaxy.
No, really.
Even at the time it felt goddamn surreal.
@Oggie @Taweret I thought for a second this was about Captain Power, a completely different gun-toy-themed show where you were supposed to use the gun to shoot the bad guys in the show. Don't know how it was supposed to work. Anyway, that was apparently a career stepping stone for J. Michael Straczynski

@Taweret Spellbinder was something I thought I had hallucinated until I randomly saw a fanart of one of the characters a couple years ago. Turns out it is all on youtube (legitimately) for free now, too.

@Taweret My mother was a teacher and would wake me up early to get ready. This was the only show that played early and was meant for kids.
@Taweret @Mrfunkedude I know that song without even clicking that link.

@Taweret Some PBS-shown educational show (I think about math) where there were a couple young folks in a space station. There were computers with tape drives. This was 79-80, so skylab-era.
I only remember seeing episodes once or twice -- at least once was actually in class -- and I have never been able to track down what it was.
I assume it was some obscure AIT thing I'm misremembering, but I have no idea.
@Unlikelylass @Taweret ohh that sounds like a sibling show to "Read All About It", which as best I can recall was about kids whose dad was missing and they find a key to his office which contains an interdimensional typewriter or some such, and there's a bad guy out to get them (maybe the same show? I don't remember a space station but we only watched it in school and I don't think we saw the whole thing)
the dad of one of my classmates looked just like the evil interdimensional bad guy and that was messed up

what's a TV show you watched as a kid that you're pretty sure you hallucinated
@Taweret The ultimate answer, though, is that we all lay dying of carbon monoxide poisoning and hallucinated βCartoon All-Stars to the Rescueβ and we are now in Hell
-
what's a TV show you watched as a kid that you're pretty sure you hallucinated
@Taweret ok here's an obscure one that only Chicago kids (and maybe some Canadian kids) will know:
Gigglesnort Hotel.
-
there was a Saturday morning cartoon about animals that - wait for it - wore shirts
I don't remember what they did but the intro says you call them when you're in a jam so I guess they help people with stuff
@Taweret I think I've only ever seen one episode (the Olympics one). They didn't air the show where I lived, but occasionally I could pick it up over the air from a station in West Virginia. And it was always the same episode.
