I have already held the entire meeting in my head, assigning lines to all the attendees, and become very annoyed by it. I don’t think I really need to attend the actual meeting now.

@thebaywindowgirl I used to find most meetings a waste of time. Very rare to find someone who could chair a meeting and just go through the points without meandering and letting people waffle on

@Walkaholic @thebaywindowgirl I think it's useful to have allocated times on the agenda. ie Item 4 has 8 minutes assigned. If it genuinely needs more than the allotted time then it probably needs its own meeting so that the rest of the agenda doesn't get compressed into 5 minutes at the end of a very long meeting in which most people were sidelined because they were there for Items 10 and 13.

@aroundthehills @Walkaholic yeah, we don’t even have an agenda, so. I’ll take notes for myself, but there will be no minutes, and the whole thing will just disappear into a black hole of wasted time. Hence my irritation.

@thebaywindowgirl @aroundthehills I can understand your frustration. That's not a meeting

Unfortunately it's a very common type of meeting! -

@thebaywindowgirl @Walkaholic Our orienteering club was blessed with very good chair people so the meetings, though often tedious, were at least efficient. I say ‘were’ because OH and I have very much stepped away from it all, but the club continues to thrive
