    #Indiana’s name literally means "Land of the Indians," chosen to honor the Indigenous peoples who inhabited the region. Adopted in the late 18th century for the territory north of the Ohio River, the name combines "Indian" with the Latin-derived suffix "-ana," meaning "land of". It was formally applied when the territory was organized in 1800.

    Of course all the #Native #Indigenous people were massacred or removed to elsewhere, but hey thanks for the 'honor'! 😵‍💫

      @Yehuda

      Cut down the forest then name the cul-de-sac after it...
