      @shafik

      Lets talk about "we". WE haven't forgotten. WE had each flavor of measles as a child. Mumps was the one I hated most. Those of us who made it through, remember.

      So take a look at the anti-vaxers out there. The only one of them old enough to know what having measles is like, is Robert Kennedy Quack Jr.

      AntiVaxers are spoiled would-be know-it-all brats who are as ignorant as a rock.

        @shafik It's especially bad now that we know that it also "resets" the immune system memory (we learnt that around 2012 IIRC), and it takes a few years to get it back normal working conditions.

          @morwenn

          "Measles and Immune Amnesia"

          https://asm.org/articles/2019/may/measles-and-immune-amnesia

          "that nearly half of all childhood deaths from infectious disease could be related to measles infection when the disease was prevalent. That means infections other than measles resulted in death, due to the measles effect on the immune system."

            @shafik A few years ago I read Stewart O'Nan's _novel about diptheria called _A Prayer for the Dying_:

            https://www.librarything.com/work/156768/t/A-Prayer-for-the-Dying

            It was absolutely chilling. Imagine what COVID would have been like in small town in the 19th century.
