      No crypto companies pouring in money and hoping for a big payoff some day.

        @fdrc_ff Yes, this map, I believe, looks at the physical locations of the servers, but some of them might use Cloudflare and similar services, masking it.

        I think https://fedidb.com/welcome doesn't work that way, but here you can also only find a few servers.

              @stefan @fdrc_ff I know about two or three African instances and I'm not sure if they are physically hosted in Africa.

              It's definitely true however that the African userbase of the fediverse is comparibly small. The Global South is underrepresented.

                80% der deutschen Nutzer sind auf 14 Instanzen.
                Mastadon ist eher Oligarchie als dezentral.
                Ich hoffe, dass ändert sich noch.

                Auf #wiesbaden.social sind leider auch wenige menschen.
