ActivityPub, the protocol that powers much of the fediverse and allows the various fediverse platforms and servers to talk to each other, has become an official W3C standard 8 years ago!

Just think about how radical the fediverse is: a place for real human connections and communities where no single individual or business is in charge.

No crypto companies pouring in money and hoping for a big payoff some day.

@fdrc_ff Yes, this map, I believe, looks at the physical locations of the servers, but some of them might use Cloudflare and similar services, masking it.

I think https://fedidb.com/welcome doesn't work that way, but here you can also only find a few servers.

It's definitely true however that the African userbase of the fediverse is comparibly small. The Global South is underrepresented.
