    At the parties needs to go to the front of the guillotine line.

      @virtualbri

      This is why I don't trust the file drop. Given how much Republicans have already faked information related to the Epstein files, I'm not confident they didn't tamper with the evidence, besides pointing at only tangentional evidence.

        @virtualbri

        Everyone sane hates the crimes. We are on the same page there.

        These ops often involve getting photos in public and wrongfully implicating uninvolved parties.

        Along with the clear victims there were also young participants who just thought they were going to fun parties. Those didn't wind up part of criminal complaints, but could catch strays.

        These cases become toxic to everyone involved. We are outraged. We have to be nuanced.

          @virtualbri though taking down the oligarchs would stop the parties. The oligarchical impunity made the parties happen

              @virtualbri Maybe not "at the parties" at all. I've been to plenty without much knowledge except it was necessary schmoozing, not just for personal opportunities, but for non-profit fundraising and for social change in influential circles.

              "Stayed late at the parties," definitely.

                @virtualbri I'm pretty convinced David Brooks was not part of the in-crowd, while it would be dead easy to pull one over on him. Given he's "press," and he's had reason not to go down that particular _thought_ rabbit hole, he's perfect cover to have around. (Yes, I do think people can have that s* go on in the next room by people they know and not let it cross their awareness.)
