@julian yeah, heavy on people who look more at the 'growth hackability' coefficient and profitability, than moral compass or the amount of soul you have to sell.But there are roughly 2 crowds on HN. A sizable group is comparable to value-aligned folks you find here on the fediverse. They are the ones making critical notes, and ensure many of the good articles pop up on the front page.And as a humane tech activist it is relatively easy to 'bump' the positive messages that blissful unaware devs need to see, to raise awareness on things. Esp. if you are in Europe it is relatively easy to get things to the front page that highlight the big problems of our modern tech.

@reiver@mastodon.social Mastodon can, and that's what the long form text FEP enables. If you set a summary, Mastodon will faithfully show it, even for Article types.

@sophiekaz welcome! I did the same in mid 2024, have been very happy here, and hope you will be too.I got rid of facebook, instagram, twitter, and google and my life became simpler, more private, and better overall.

@the I've only touched the subject lightly, but it depends on how far you want to go; it's a pubsub system with "mailboxes" that have pub/priv key used for authorisation. When you post you have to push your message to all the followers, rather than them pulling it, so you need some active job queue system that handles that too. Beyond that I'm unsure but that appears to be the basics of it. There are also many extensions, specific to Mastodon, Misskey, etc, that aren't part of the official spec.

@IdleHirn uhh... okay, die Integration ist noch sehr experimentell. Ich selbst kann die nicht testen und hangle mich da nur durch verfügbare api dokumentationen, deshalb kann das natürlich krachen. Ich kümmere mich drum.

@revkHonestly, just move on. It's obviously a bloody difficult issue, and we all understand the historical balance has been heavily weighted against victims/accusers. But people who cannot see the slightest shade of grey, despite the documented small proportion of proved false allegations, are not worth the time. I'm honestly just glad I'm not in a position where I have to assess such trade offs.
