@tuomas_h Yep, it's a confusing one for sure although not a new thing for PCs at that time. I for example had an 8088 that ran at 8MHz. Its motherboard had a "compatibility mode" that was triggered by some odd keyboard combo at boot, which made it run at around 4MHz, which had the same intended effect as the so called turbo feature; to make previous generation CPU cycle based delays work as intended.I guess TURBO just sounded cooler feature and people loved to see that yellow LED lit or even better; the actual MHz in cases that had 7-segment displays to show the supposed MHz value it was running on.The 386 era was where people first started to overclock the chips, which came with all the horror stories, which then muddied the water regarding the turbo button's function.
