@mpjgregoire I don't think I would recognize one if I heard one. I reached my "peak" willingness to find new music a decade ago, and unless the missus exposes me to new music I am probably not going to come across it on my own.
I've only ever heard about Bad Bunny because people seem recently upset about him.

@PatrickoftheG Sure, ignorance of his music may say more about us than about him. Or possibly the music world in general now is so divided that even very popular music is still niche.

@mpjgregoire I sadly have to say zero, but thanks to the Streisand effect I've learned he's a pretty great guy, generally, and listening to a few of his tracks found he'd fit in pretty nicely with other stuff in my Latin playlist. NUEVAYoL is a banger.

@zazzoo Thanks for sharing. Here's the tune, for those who may be curious: https://youtu.be/KU5V5WZVcVE?si=AP8s-5tvgCu1or1_

@mpjgregoire Ha, hadn't seen the video. Liked the radio bit they threw in there.
You know this is timely. Just yesterday, I was watching a video and it irked me when the USian YouTuber just casually dropped Puerto Rico into a list of 'foreign Latin countries'.
What an insult. Imagine being conquered and your conqueror not even remembering they own you.

@zazzoo Yeah, that would be really maddening if I were Puerto Rican.
It is anomalous though: probably Puerto Rico should become a state or become independent. But I certainly don't claim any great knowledge of Puerto Rican affairs, so I won't express an opinion on what their future should be.

@mpjgregoire To be honest, the half time show for me is my cue to go for a piss and then have a sandwich. Always has been.

The #NationalPost has an article hoping for a protest song from Bad Bunny at the Super Bowl: https://cosocial.ca/@mpjgregoire/116035041454857186

@mpjgregoire If even NatPo wants a protest song, you know things must be bad. That's almost analogous to Margaret Thatcher locking arms with striking coal miners to sing "We shall not be moved."

@david_megginson Columnists are not generally required to stick to a party line in the #NationalPost, though I think they're all conservative in some sense. I don't think one column can be said to represent the paper's position.
That said, many Canadian conservatives oppose Pres. Trump. (Not all of us, alas.) I think the *National Post* is opposed, but I'm not sure how I'd be able to demonstrate that.

@mpjgregoire @mayintoronto I've gotta wonder: some people say "maths" for "mathematics" (I do not) … so, is "maths" plural? And, if so, what is a singular "math"?

@driusan
Like the columnist in the #NationalPost I've linked to, I had never heard of Bad Bunny before I learned he'd be performing at the Super Bowl. But "On Spotify, he has been the most-streamed artist a record four times — in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2025. He was first non-English artist to top the list."(I don't use Spotify either.)

@mpjgregoire @purplepadma I don’t know song names, even my favorite tracks, so that’s a factor

@mpjgregoire Given that this is the first I'm hearing the name, I'm gonna have to go with none.

Yes, in retrospect I should have asked if people "recognise" any Bad Bunny songs... -

@mpjgregoire I suspect NatPo is walking a tightrope, not wanting to be seen to support President Trump, because of the multi-partisan Canadian opposition you mention, but also not wanting to upset the rich, powerful men they shill for.

@mpjgregoire @driusan I suppose that's similar circumstances then, with Bad Bunny being someone unknown to us until Americans started getting angst about the Super Bowl.
Then again, all three of us are from Québec. I am not sure how much traction a Puerto Rican singing, who sings mostly in Spanish, would really get in the media we pay most active attention to just in general.

Too bad that
'Superb Owl domingo'
doesn't work as well en español...
But I'd love to be shown wrong!
