@leanlearnlead I would tend to disagree with you on this one. Especially now that Carney has gone full Progressive Conservative.

@javensbukan perhaps...but the voters in Scarborough will soon be asked to call a former provincial NDP a federal Liberal...a proud tradition since Bob Rae...

@leanlearnlead I think you're conflating Provincial parties with Federal parties.

They often are not politically aligned or support the same things even if they have the same name - case and point the Alberta NDP and Federal NDP.

Or, the PC party of Nova Scotia which is neither Liberal or Conservative, but has elements of both, same for the Ontario PCs.

Another case and point, a local MP here (Chris d'Entremont) elected as a Conservative but now sits as a Liberal.

Does that mean the Conservatives and Liberals are the same too?

@javensbukan well, on Tories and Grits being alike, I defer to Tommy Douglas.

@javensbukan and on your point about the parties being different provincially and federally, I disagree - in the mind of this voter (me) it is a sign of political opportunism when someone crosses the floor or runs for a different party federally vs provincially.

I appreciate not everyone agrees with me. But for me, it taints the brand of the NDP, of Dolly Begum, and the Liberals.

@leanlearnlead Right, buuuuuut that applies to all parties that have floor crossers, which is all of them.

So yes, I agree, but also, this is hardly just one parties issue/fault.

Case and point, the people of Acadie-Annaoplis who voted for a Conservative but now have a Liberal.

Until we have laws that automatically cause a byelection on floor crossing, this will never change.
