I’ve taught the dog to ring a bell if she has to go outside. When she comes back in she gets a treat for ringing the bell. She now rings it, stands on the deck for a few minutes then comes back in and demands her treat. Don’t tell me animals are dumb. Especially poodle mixes. Here’s a picture of her guarding me while I use the facilities.

#Dogs #dogsofmastodon@Pinchy63 I always found that my dogs learned what I taught them, but the point of what I taught them never quite translated. They always seemed to find a different lesson in there somewhere than what I'd intended! (And yes, they are smart. Not just poodle mixes, either.)
