@skinnylatte Very informative; thanks for posting this. I was aware there's a variety of languages spoken, but this clarifies the scale of it.
I'll admit I've also been wondering for a while whether there's a default assumption I should make when somebody says they speak Chinese or are learning it, so it was helpful for that alone.

Very nice!I like how she explains the concept "dialect" doesn'tmap to the concept translated as "dialect" in China.
I didn't realize this had a Wikipedia page, but I found "A language is a dialect with an army and a navy" a very helpful notion
