        @rasterweb I don’t know about β€œmost” but it’s a sport that requires a lot of equipment so it’ll generally appeal to people who can afford that equipment so it leans toward wealthier folks.

          @milesizdead Same. A friend of mine (super-lefty) said she used to be way way into hockey but it's been taken over by right wing folks and she sort of gave up on it.

            @jim Is that people who play or fans that go watch?

            Offhand I can think of two friends of mine who play and they are both left, though one definitely has more money, and the other doesn't seem to, but probably started playing at a young age.

              @rasterweb I'm not sure about "most" but a good chunk of them are. Completely anecdotal, but I tend to see more left-leaning or center fans online than right-leaning fans but I don't go where a lot of the right-leaning folks post.

              I've been to a few NHL games and didn't see anything much either way, vast majority were just there to watch hockey.

              The players definitely skew that way due to the cost barrier of entry and (in)accessibility of the sport, and a lot of them are multi-millionaires.

                @rasterweb It’s my assumption that ability to play and being a fan are linked generally. If I played Cricket as a kid (or had friends or family that did) I’d be more likely to be a fan of it now.

                  @rasterweb
                  That is hard to answer. I play hockey with mostly American white guys in their 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. We meet for coffee weekly. Politics comes up occasionally. I was shocked recently when I discovered that most are anti-Trump. Some may be right of center, but I wouldn't call any right-wing. Except that I play right wing. My hockey position doesn't match my politics.

                    @rasterweb That’s such a shame. I’m not the kind who goes to games etc, but I can imagine they can be rough. I just watch the games at home and listen to NHL podcasts.
