When I started this thread, I also assumed that everyone remembered that Kristi #Noem killed her dog and a goat, and even boasted about the killings in her memoir. Here's a link, for the record.

But his dog survived and was sent to a shelter, where Bondi adopted it. The boy had previously lost his parents in a murder-suicide. When he and his grandparents tried to reclaim the dog, Bondi hired a lawyer to stop them.
