Why scientists are concerned:

• ink particles migrate to lymph nodes
• pigments can persist in the body for years
• chronic immune stimulation
• some inks contain carcinogenic compounds

A 2024 Lancet study reported a 21% higher lymphoma risk in tattooed individuals. No causal proof yet — but more research is needed.
