"Since late January, the schoolboy [Ethan Moran Lopez] has been confined to a hospital bed with measles encephalitis, a complication that causes swelling and inflammation in the brain.
-
"'God has chosen Ethan for a reason. God is doing something, and we're gonna glorify his name regardless' [said his mother Kristina].
'And we wouldn't change it any other way,' the mom continued.’ If I knew this could be the outcome, I still wouldn't have given my son the vaccine.'”
Think for a moment about what this talk about "God" and "God choosing" a seriously ill child whose illness vaccination would have prevented means.
If "God" has "chosen" Ethan, then "God" is also choosing all the other children this mother's own children infect because of the decision she is making on behalf of her children. Every parent choosing to let their children get measles is making other children susceptible to her choice.

And "God" is choosing all of us, since we all bear the cost of expensive hospital treatments for those who need not have been hospitalized if they or their parents had made the responsible decision to vaccinate.
And if these unfortunate human beings end up permanently impaired, as they sometimes do, we all bear the cost of assisting and supporting them.

Wrapping eminently antisocial, eminently selfish, and very stupid decisions in pseudo-religious language doesn't do anything at all to change the fact that these decisions are, in fact, antisocial and selfish, and fueled by stupidity.

State sanctioned child abuse.

@wdlindsy The parents should be reported for child abuse and neglect, not that it would do anything in South Carolina, except make the point that not vaccinating children against the measles should be considered neglect in a rational world.

/5Dumbass mother: “Oh, I’m so sad my son died of measles! But I guess it is all part of God’s mysterious plan!”
God: “Wow, humans are so dumb, even my ‘hand them a measles vaccine on a silver platter’ plan didn’t work.”

sheesh & i thought my mother was bad but THIS is truly over-the-top psychopathy-- the child's brain has been destroyed -- by his MOTHER who happily boasts she would do it AGAIN!
this is the problem with giving people a consequences-free way of harming their child like denying vaccines-- evil people exist
this woman knows there are no consequences to herself for doing this to her child >heck, she's cashing in on being special & somehow chosen by God!

Seriously, I'd like to hear them say what Bible verses told them all this. The Temptation of Christ specifically says don't put God to the test.

it seems as if these parents don't like or want their children

@wdlindsy This is one of the many examples why I truly hate religious zealots, who defy logic and science in a harmful way.
If they harmed themselves only and not bothering others and profiting from our public services like healthcare, even Darwined themselves, I would be 100% okay with it.
But these self-righteous f*ckers always, ALWAYS, harm others.Even in fictional media, when the actor or artist portray such characters, my blood boils and want the character dead ASAP.
