    One of the worst identity management problems is the electronic payout of class action settlements. I got one such e-mail, which claims to be my $40 payout, but there is no information that ties the e-mail to the class action suit, other than that the e-mail claims it is. No common DNS domains, not the same sender e-mail address, nothing. And they want me to enter my banking info for ACH payment. Feels like a horrible attack vector. What is one to do there? #thisneedsfixing

      @j12t
      There are so many financial scams out there that I set up a secondary bank account with next to mothing in it. Sort of like a disposable secondary email used for online purchases. That account can be used relatively safely, and any funds received can be transferred out to “the real account.” Given the state of things these days it seems good to safely spread around what little we have.

        @Hawaii @j12t Sometimes it is also a good practice to have a firewall account for receiving your paycheque in. If the employer can put money in, they can generally take money out.

        Monthly deposit plus automatic transfer to second account, ????, profit!
