@MelissaBearTrix It depended on the technician, but sometimes it was definitely painful. Being smallish but with dense breast tissue may have contributed to that? Or perhaps getting diagnostic scans rather than screening.
Although the worst part was getting out of breath because I had to stand and hold my breath. POTS (plus undiagnosed low ferritin) made that tricky!

@MelissaBearTrix So painful on one of mine I fainted out of the machine.
The bruising! The fuss! The embarrassment!
After that I did them seated (which most techs won't tell you about). Helped slightly.
"Mammograms pointless on your breast tissue anyway," said the surgeon, and would send me for MRIs.@caity @MelissaBearTrix Oh no!
I'm glad they now let you sit. I tried to ask for that because I have POTS, but none of them ever let me... Oh well, at least I don't need them anymore, sans boobs!

@MelissaBearTrix I went for uncomfortable, but it does border on painful. I think it only being a short time makes it stay on the right side of painful for me. If it went on much longer , it would be painful for sure.
But it is definitely an individual thing. When I had mine last year I was sitting in the little changing room before my turn and could hear the lady who was in there getting hers done and she was saying how much it hurt and sounded quite distressed.

@MelissaBearTrix i canβt vote cause I have not bad one yet.
I do hear it is more painful for those with smaller breasts.Leaving me wondering how it compares to βwearingβ nipple clampsβ¦

@MelissaBearTrix Made me quite nervous as I didn't recall the two I'd had before being that bad. But when I had mine, it was fine. Not a barrel of laughs and glad when it was over, but no big deal.
(But I'm someone who thought "If this thing wasn't so noisy I could go to sleep in here" about being in an MRI tube. So I am kind of sanguine like that.)

@MelissaBearTrix last time I did it was not painful at all, not as I remembered it earlier. Felt like the machine was new and could do it without squeezing so hard?

@MelissaBearTrix more specifically, really uncomfortable and I will absolutely be taking NSAIDS afterwards and might be taking the rest of the day off work because of significant discomfort

Iβve been fortunate to have very good techs who are always very careful to keep the pinch out.
My insurer is ass, but those techs are the best.

@MelissaBearTrix I had a mammogram due to a breast cancer scare and I went in so afraid because everyone had always told me how painful they are and, for me, I don't even think it was uncomfortable. It was some pressure, but I barely felt it.

@MelissaBearTrix For me it has only been hurtful once of all the times I've done it. Not sure what was different that time though.

I put uncomfortable, but it wasn'teven that. It was just a bit of pressure.
Everyone had said how painful it was, but it really wasn't even remotely painful
