@gedeonm Popeyes had a special pickle themed menu over the summerβ€”pickle fried chicken, spicy pickle fried chicken, and yes, pickle lemonade. I saw Kenji Lopez-Alt review it positively and curiosity got the better of me. It was all strangely delicious. The acidity of vinegar, the herby notes of dill, and yes, the salt, all work better with lemonade than you would think. Lemons are already acidic, and think of how well they pair with herbs like basil, thyme, and rosemary.

Anyway, it was all unusual, sure, but it worked! Don’t knock it β€˜til you’ve tried it.

@gedeonm I’ve never tried it but apparently there’s a very popular secret menu option at Sonic where they do this, too - add pickle juice to their lemonade. I keep meaning to try it but haven’t been to a sonic in an age. Looks like this place is trying to capitalize on it lol

@gedeonm I love grilled cheese sandwiches. Love. Love. Love. I hate pickles with a white hot passion. Why do some restaurants put them in the side?!? Or even on top as garnish. But INSIDE? Oh hell no.

@markgrambau @gedeonm I did the same thing, Kenji video > Popeyes for the first time in years. Sadly the lemonade didn’t make it across the border to Canada, at least not to my city. Everything else was pretty tasty, but I was actually really looking forward to trying the lemonade since it, and pickles, are two of my favourite flavours that I’ve never considered combining.
