Futurism: Tesla Accused of Killing Family, Plus Their Dog, by Steering Vehicle Head-on Into Oncoming Semi-Truck (1/6/26)

"...A man is suing Tesla after half his family was killed when their Model X, which was running one of the automaker’s driving assistance features, veered across the road line and into a tractor-trailer — crushing his wife, two daughters, son-in-law, and family dog,..."

@ai6yr Tesla willl look at their logs and provide evidence that at the time of impact, the self driving feature was disabled and that it was thus the drivers fault.

Hopefully the judge can use human judgement to decide that disabling autopilot 0.5 seconds before impact does not give driver enough time for human to take control and that the autopilot is still to be held responsible.

I would assume that in real life, the amount of time between autopilot disengaging and ability of human to take control and regain situational awareness to avoid accident would vary by type of circumstance and speed of travel so am curious what courts would decide for a precedent.
