I wouldn't have put it past someone to embed their principles into the software they develop and make it intentionally obtuse in doing so. Look no further than #Guix for that. But it doesn't seem to be the case here, with there being a layer of separation between the developers and the community that use Mastodon. Or, as I understand it to be at the very least.
