So, 40 billion pounds and 60 years to renovate parliament?

So, 40 billion pounds and 60 years to renovate parliament? It’s all unreal stupid numbers at this point. It’d probably be cheaper to let it burn down and build a replica at this point.

I’m sure it’d be cheaper if it didn’t have to function as a parliament. Break up the UK, have the English parliament in Birmingham (I dunno, maybe? I don’t care, or break up England too?) and turn the Palace of Westminster into a museum or whatever.

@aegir oh please god yes. A purpose built modern parliament to move away from stupid us v them battle bullshit. Even the senate in the US is rounded not one side Vs other which makes politics much less collaborative which it should be for the people.

@aegir @motoridersd Okay, but like 60 years is actually nutzo.

@javensbukan @motoridersd See that looks a hell of a lot more complicated and difficult and they were talking about 5 billion Canadian dollars to do it! That’s what, £2.7bn?

@aegir @motoridersd Yeah, they're putting the entire building on seismic isolators as well as blasting a new security and welcome center underneath it, in addition to the regular preservation and maintenance.
