>The German resistance consisted of small, isolated groups that were unable to mobilize mass political opposition possibly due to the success of the Nazi propaganda machine. This failure to mobilize mass opposition severely limited the operations. Added to that was the lack of support by the Allied leadership to the resistance. This resistance had neither a unified leadership nor agenda; in fact, German resistance to Nazi rule was a broad effort by Germans who opposed Hitler and his fascist ideology. These Germans belonged to a wide category.

I'm always reminded how the "allied" powers not only tolerated but encouraged the rise of the Nazis as a bulwark to communism, but also a consumer of debt. Nazism was actively funded by those who ended up decrying and fighting against it. -
