Seems I’m far from alone in resisting Apple’s push to move to iOS 26.

Usage data published by StatCounter (via Cult of Mac) for January 2026 indicates that only around 15 to 16% of active iPhones worldwide are running any version of ‌iOS 26‌.

Historical comparisons highlight how atypical this adoption curve appears. StatCounter data from January 2025 shows that roughly 63% of iPhones were running some version of iOS 18 about four months after its release.

@jeridansky I'll hold out until they force me. (Or possibly skip to iOS 27 if it rolls back the UI nonsense they shoved into 26.)

@tm_baumgartner With you on that one! I also don't want all the AI stuff, but since I'm on an iPhone SE it can't run on my phone, anyway.

With a new guy in charge of Apple design teams — a long-time Apple employee who seems well-respected — there's reason for hope about the UI on future releases of iOS.
