https://www.macrumors.com/2026/01/08/ios-26-shows-unusually-slow-adoption/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=mastodonUsage data published by StatCounter (via Cult of Mac) for January 2026 indicates that only around 15 to 16% of active iPhones worldwide are running any version of iOS 26.
Historical comparisons highlight how atypical this adoption curve appears. StatCounter data from January 2025 shows that roughly 63% of iPhones were running some version of iOS 18 about four months after its release.

@jeridansky I'll hold out until they force me. (Or possibly skip to iOS 27 if it rolls back the UI nonsense they shoved into 26.)

@tm_baumgartner With you on that one! I also don't want all the AI stuff, but since I'm on an iPhone SE it can't run on my phone, anyway.
With a new guy in charge of Apple design teams — a long-time Apple employee who seems well-respected — there's reason for hope about the UI on future releases of iOS.
