New housing going up in my city — yay!
Oh, wait: It's "a new coastal enclave in Half Moon Bay's Newest Luxury Subdivision." Twelve large homes, two of which are listed at $2,199,000 and $2,999,000. The sign says eleven homes, but that's because one has already been sold.
We need affordable housing, not this.

HMB used to be affordable.@HumToTable My 3-small-bedrooms, 1 bath house built in 1964 would go for over $1 million, per Zillow. That's absurd for what we would have called a starter home, back in the day. (I bought a long time ago, so I didn't pay anywhere near $1 million.)

https://www.kuldagroup.com/creekside-court@jeridansky Yeah. Sigh.
But what a location. Just a short block or two to downtown Half Moon Bay.

https://www.kuldagroup.com/creekside-courtOh good gods, Jeri, this kind of thing is so exhausting with the way everything is for house now. So many places already for people with money to live.
Is this some ugly thing you'll now have to see? The proverbial sort thumb that doesn't match its neighborhood? We just saw yet another group of huge infill houses in my region today.

@czarbucks It's right next to the parking lot for a small shopping and office area I go to regularly — and where our farmers market is held on Saturdays in season. There's a row of old trees between the parking lot and the new homes, but the trees don't block the houses from sight. I'll take a photo sometime to show you.
So I'll see the houses, but it's not really an eyesore, either.
It is infill of sorts, and we have built (and are continuing to build) some low-cost housing, so I guess one batch of homes like these isn't all that bad. But I sure would have preferred a different use of that space. However, big homes are what developers make money on. You need nonprofits and such for building lower-cost housing.

@tylerstone Half Moon Bay, California. Off the north end of Church Street, and just north of Shoreline Station with its shops, restaurants, and offices.
