W Social completely erasing Mastodon and Eurosky on the map on its signup page may finally bring ATproto and AP together.

@kye@tech.lgbt the map is a little disingenuous isn't it... suggests absolutely nothing of value in the social media space came out of Europe...

and yet, Skype went absolutely gangbusters back in the day, and that was from Estonia...

@julian @Kye Jodel is also a fairly popular social media app in some European countries like Germany.

@Kye The only way I see to merge ActivityPub and ATProto is through a kind of nomadic identity that clones the PDS as a new channel.
However, this would require AT Proto users to agree to have their PDS data cloned to another server or hub, regardless of the implications this might have for digital sovereignty over their own data. In this regard, I am not yet sure how relevant such a project will become.
