What are some good email options for privacy these days?
I definitely need to start migrating out of Gmail bc it's obvious where THAT is going.
I was very close to doing Proton Mail a few months ago but then I heard bad shit about them too, so there went that idea.
Then I got frustrated and put the idea down for awhile. I think it's time to test the waters again.
I'm sure y'all have opinions. Go!

@RVLara23 I’ll give a bump for Tuta. I have not migrated over yet, but I have accounts there.

@RVLara23 Mailbox.org is worth looking at. Not free, but that can be a positive. Full "use your own domain" support.

@RVLara23 I'm finding Tuta a good fit. Switched a bit over a year ago and tested the waters for awhile, migrating more and more there.

@RVLara23 I’d recommend combining email provider switch with getting your own web domain. That way you can switch providers again in future without having to also change your email adresses. This of course means choosing a provider that lets you specify your own domain, but there are various affordable options. I went for mailbox.org as provider and inwx.de for domain registration, total cost can be under 35 per year. There is a one off technical faff connecting your email and your domain, but mailbox.org has good documen walking you through the steps.
