The crocuses in Tavistock’s park, ‘the meadows’ (West Devon), looked amazing today ! They’ve spread since I saw them last.
The park was originally water meadows owned by the ancient abbey, then later on in industrial times the Tavistock canal was built in the early 19th century to take ore and materials to Morewellham Quay, copper mine.
In 1898 the land was formally changed from agricultural grazing use to a public park and was bought by the Tavistock authority in 1912. #photography #Devon -

@Rachelburch crocuses there are much earlier than here - I don't expect seeing any crocus in southern Germany until the last days of February or, more likely, middle of March.
@tg9541 always very mild here in sw England because of Gulf Stream. Cornwall even milder.
