I recently asked #trans friends on here about an online appointment form for physical therapy that had a required question about sex at birth. Was there any legit reason a PT practice had to know that? Nope. So I asked the PT company (it has a few locations in the #SFBA) why they had this, especially since their non-discrimination policy specifically mentioned gender identity and gender expression.

My question got them looking closer at the standard form their web vendor plugged in from the insurance company, and itโ€™s been redone. They consulted with me several times over wording, etc., which I passed along to some queer friends for their feedback.

I learned a lot from this little act of allyship. Mainly, just ask, and you have no idea what that little thing may lead to. Also, I learned more deeply about the daily crap our trans brothers and sisters have to face every day. And, as usual, it all came down to medical insurance. Ugh.

    Thanks, Agile Physical Therapy. Https://agilept.com
