    @FlockOfCats I would think buying a tiny travel size bottle of baby shampoo and carrying it with you along with bottles of water for both drinking and eye washing if needed would be a solid move.

      @FlockOfCats Great advice. For Americans watching, a liter is about the same as a quart.

          @FlockOfCats I haven't seen Dr. Glaucomflecken in such a long time. I guess since I left twitter in Oct '22. I need to check out some of his recent stuff.

          @Nonya_Bidniss

          There is a lot of good stuff!

          The new series β€œeducating you on randomly selected medical topics until you become a doctor” is funny. And he has some videos absolutely brutalizing health insurance companies, who deserve all the mockery he can heap on them 😊

            @FlockOfCats I saw his early videos on his health insurance company after his heart attack. Just despicable system.

                I've had capcisin purified in methanol in my eye before (by rights, my eyes should be much worse than they are...) and it really helps to irrigate it by tilting your head sideways, and flushing inside to the outside. (if you can move to a safe location)

                Keep your eye open while doing it, looking slightly up. It will hurt like shit the entire time and be difficult. The desire to claw your eyes out will be very intense (a grad student pretty much put me in a headlock for this).

                @Rhodium103 luckily I’ve avoided that in my eyes. But there was a close call when my lab partner sucked the capsaicin standard into a pippette bulb 🫣 πŸ˜‚

                  Thank *&%#Β£ for those last four words because my mind immediately ran to pipetting by mouth and parts of me winced that I didn't know could do that.

                    @Dr_Bombay From what I'm reading (trying to find a specific ratio of baby shampoo to water but failing), bringing a washcloth is also helpful - baby shampoo and water on the wash cloth to wipe the tear gas off your face and hands.

                    Not mentioned in the doctor's video is the use of distilled or boiled water - recommended to avoid potential eye infections.

                      @Axomamma There was some discussion scattered through the comments on the Youtube version, eg "Ratio for eye cleaning ranges from β€œ5 drops per half cup” (40 drops per litre) to β€œ1 part baby shampoo to 10 parts water” So I’d recommend the highly scientific ratio of β€œa few good squirts per litre bottle”"

                        @zeborah @Axomamma it’s gentle, but it’s still a surfactant. more is not necessarily better in the mix. a little will go a long way and still do its job. for a liter bottle, i think even half a teaspoon would get the job done. the washcloth is a great idea! (or a bandanna!)
