    I like #DuckDuckGo. But this simplistic poll about #AI ("yes" v. "no") doesn't help anyone.
    https://voteyesornoai.com/

    My answer is: "yes" for some purposes, "no" for some purposes, and "maybe/testing" for other purposes. By excluding people who don't want to oversimplify, or excluding their real answers, DDG has decided to collect bad data.

    To be charitable, DDG might be asking whether using AI should be a choice ("choice yes" v. "choice no"). But if that's what it's asking, it could be a lot clearer. BTW, in that case I'm "choice yes".

        @petersuber In the context I saw the post mentioned, I took the question to mean "do you prefer AI or no AI in the default response when you use a search engine?' That's a reasonable yes-or-no question in my view, since the default in practice will be one or the other.

          @JMarkOckerbloom
          I agree that that's a reasonable question, and even that DDG might have had that question in mind. If so, my only point is that it should have been clearer.

            @petersuber
            They set up this poll to advertise their new AI-free search engine portal, in my opinion. Real opinion polling is a very complex endeavour and best left to the likes of Pew and Gallup.

              @petersuber In context, it's clearly "Do you want AI results included in search results by default?"

                @petersuber yeah I didn’t like this either. But I’ve kind of given up the debate at this point, there is no room for subtlety

                β€œYes, where it fits” is an abhorrent take, apparently.

                There is no dreamworld where this gets uninvented. So while billionaires are trying to use it to make trillions (CERTAIN to fail) - us plebeians might as well use it where it benefits us.
