The Seismograph uses #Wikipedia page view data to find spikes in public interest for Wikipedia topics, then presents the spikes on a chart where you can turn them into Google News searches.

You can now zoom and pan the generated graphs for more precise targeting/news searching. To make that possible, there's now a "marking mode" for delineating spans for date-based Google News searches.
