Just to update you on this, I emailed the Access to Information officer who originally replied to say there were zero documents, late in the day on Feb. 2. I made my case as to why I believed she was wrong.

I've received no reply or even acknowledgement of my email as of yet.

I have however, thanks to help from people on Mastodon ( ✊ ) and other journalists, seen email evidence that people in the premier's office were indeed communicating with O'Leary Ventures and the MD of Greenview about the Wonder Valley announcement.

    So, yes, there are documents.

I've requested an extension to the appeal period while I await a response from the Access to Information official who said there were no documents.

This is based on the fact that I just obtained evidence yesterday of the existence of documents from another level of government (the MD of Greenview).

Just a reminder, the Alberta government refused to provide records to the Globe and Mail's Secret Canada project that analyzed and compared how provinces handled access to information requests.

I received a reply from the Access to Information officer:

"I understand your concern, but a thorough search was conducted by 39 members of the Premier's Office for the scope of your request, and no records were located."

First, there are 39 members in the Premier's Office?

Second, seriously? I've provided evidence that two individuals were in communication with O'Leary Ventures and the MD of Greenview. Why were they not able to locate and provide the records?

Next steps should be a discussion with those two individuals. But no, the officer just let me know that I should request a review with OIPC if I'm not satisfied.

        Done.
