Every time I go through the job application process, I am freshly reminded how dumb it is and how HR cocoons itself from ever knowing how bad their processes are.

Like CVS is looking for a Knowledge Management person
Their website doesn't accept KM certifications as a choice, doesn't accept a MASTERS degree in KM, and doesn't accept any universities not on their list. You can't reach out to tell HR how dumb that is, so they are going to be mystified and say "we don't get any good applicants"

@mloxton to be a pedantic reply guy, the “recruiting” team which owns the ATS might be a function of global HR department, but for a corporation of that size, they’re probably as far apart—culturally, physically, and operationally—as Mars and Venus.

Right.
Which is one of the problems with hiring in general - you ask an HR person to recruit a specialist in a field they know nothing about, to select for skills they don't understand, and to use tools they don't knowThe outcome is this kind of thing where the hiring manager cannot fathom why HR keep sending poor matches or nobody at all

In other news, I am interviewing for a role today in which they sent me several documents on how to prepare for an interviewing technique that was developed in the 70's and was outdated by the 90's.So here we are, HR is using a technique that filters out the best and worst candidates alike, and boosts bullshitters.
