    Violet Zulu, earned $40 a month as a house cleaner in Zambia. She was sentenced to seven years in a maximum security prison in 2024 for illegally terminating her pregnancy on her own. She didn’t see her two children or other family members for nearly two years. After word of her case reached international rights groups that helped her file an appeal, Zulu was freed last month.       @CultureDesk @AssociatedPress We can blame this awful state of affairs for women in Africa on centuries of Christian missionary brainwashing and European colonial misogyny.
