Lol I wish Mastodon had a feature to make certain posts not visible to certain followers (read: I want to rant about leaving the Netherlands without my coworkers and boss seeing).
@Gina I realized one day that Mastodon is a quieter network. But it's still a social network, and the people who come here are the same ones who were on other social networks.
That helped me understand that what I don't like is people.
Either you say everything without fear, or you don't publish anything. I, for example, ended up putting cats here to avoid talking about certain things and to silence my harsh opinions. -
Also not sure if I should even long post about my intention to move abroad, since I'm on a tech focused server. Don't want to bother yall but it's also such a big theme in my life atm that I don't have much else to post about
@Gina Why not. Plenty of it from US refugees.
If you're not happy with the country assigned to you at birth you should do something about it!

@Gina I think you should share whatever you want to share. You are a person, not a product. I'm interested in you as a person, not just a topic, and I'm sure others are too.

None of us is only our job or our hobbies. Our lives are full of different things, and we should be talking about them when we want to.Also, I'm sure that disliking the climate of central or northern Europe is not going to come as a major shock to anybody who's spent more than ten minutes there...

@Gina your boss notwithstanding, I think it's fine to talk about this on fosstodon. If people aren't interested in this important topic in your life, they could mute you for a little while. Personally, I don't mind hearing about the other things going on.

@graves I know, but there's something about blogposts that make it very unenjoyable for me to write them. I think it perfectionism, because it needs to somehow be a coherent story. A blogpost takes me on average 8 hrs to write. 🥲
Mastodon posts are much easier.

@Gina if you hashtag it, people could use filters to filter it out if they don't want to hear it. Not quite what you want, but similar result in the end. And those of us who follow you NOT on a tech server wouldn't mind a bit on nontech news.
